Hélène VALADE
Group Environment Development Director
Hélène VALADE began her career at Ifop, then at TNS Sofrès, where she managed the Opinion division.
In 2005, she joined the Suez Environnement group as Sustainable Development Director of Lyonnaise des Eaux. From 2014, Hélène VALADE is promoted to head the Sustainable Development Department of Suez.
Since January 2020, Hélène VALADE has been the new Director of Environmental Development at LVMH.
Hélène VALADE is also the co-founder of C3D in 2007 and President of the College of Sustainable Development Directors until 2016.
Since 2018, Hélène VALADE has been President of ORSE, the Observatoire de la Responsabilité Sociétale des Entreprises.
Hélène Valade is a Knight of the Order of Merit and of the Legion of Honor.
Hélène Valade is a member of the Board of Directors of CNRS, ADEME and Alliance Française.
Nicolas Martin
LVMH Sustainable Store Planning Manager
Nicolas is an interior architect. He graduated from Camondo school, based in Paris, in 1998. He worked in the design agency of Sylvain Dubuisson for 10 years, and 5 years at Dior Parfums as Worldwide Visual Merchandiser. At Dior, he oversaw the Group’s first full-LED store at Galeries Lafayette in Paris. Nicolas joined the environment team in 2013. The objective being to reduce the energy consumption of the stores, without compromising quality, he started a program called LVMH Lighting with Christian Galichon, the Group’s CPO. Since 2015, Nicolas has been developing the LIFE in Stores guidelines, the group’s rating system. This became the Stores Awards in 2016, 2018, and in 2020. This rating system is covering all the topics of green Architecture. During the pandemic, his focus was to train and influence all architects and VM of the Group and to innovate in the field of smart building technologies. In 2022, marks the return of the projects and of the Stores Awards, with a special Silver award to Dior av. Montaigne. During the same event, LVMH signed a one-of-a-kind collaboration agreement with Hang Lung Properties, on sustainability initiatives.
Adriel Chan
Vice Chair, Hang Lung Group and Hang Lung Properties, Hong Kong
Adriel Chan is the Vice Chair of Hang Lung Group and Hang Lung Properties. He joined the company in 2010,was appointed to the Board in 2016, and then appointed Vice Chair in 2020. Adriel also chairs the sustainability committee.
Adriel is a Vice President and Executive Committee member of the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong, and is Chairman of the Committee of Overseers of Morningside College at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He sits on the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST) Business School Advisory Council, and is a Court member of the University of Hong Kong. Additionally, Adriel is a Council Member of the Academy of Chinese Studies.
Prior to joining the Group, Adriel worked in finance, audit, and risk management. He holds an E.M.B.A. jointly awarded by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and HKUST, and a B.A. in international relations from the University of Southern California.
John Haffner
Deputy Director – Sustainability, Hang Lung Properties, Hong Kong
John Haffner is Deputy Director – Sustainability, Hang Lung Properties Ltd., where he is responsible for formulating the Group-wide sustainability strategy and driving its execution. He has more than two decades of experience in cleantech, infrastructure and sustainability in Asia and North America, and is proficient in Mandarin. John was a World Fellow at Yale University, and has more than 20 publications on various topics including the environment, energy and international affairs.
Raefer Wallis
Founder / CEO of GIGA / RESET
Raefer Wallis is an award winning Architect and the founder of GIGA and the RESET Standard. With a career focused exclusively on health and sustainability, Raefer has led projects on 4 continents and called China home for over 21 years. Having studied Pure and Applied Sciences prior to completing his Masters of Architecture, Raefer brings a science based approach to quantifying health and sustainability in real estate. Raefer completed the first operationally carbo n neutral hotel in Asia in 2007 and began working on embodied carbon in 2009. He completed the first Chinese language EPD in 2012 and the first fully regionalized EPD for building products in China in 2014, alongside Ecovane.
Regularly invited to lecture internationally, Raefer’s pioneering work on health and sustainability in real estate has been featured by the NYT, BBC, TED, La Presse, Architectural Digest, Interior Design, ELLE, Vogue and many more.
Giuliana AUINGER
Partner and Vice President at Schneider Electric
Giuliana Auinger is a Partner and Vice President at Schneider Electric, leading their Sustainability Business in Asia Pacific, delivering Sustainability consulting and managed services to clients. The division’s mission is to help enterprises accelerate climate mitigation actions and reduce carbon emissions using technological solutions.
Prior to joining Schneider Electric, Giuliana was a Strategy consulting Partner at KPMG, practice leader at Axiom and management consultant at Diamond Management & Technology Consultants and Booz & Company.
Fred Chiu
Head of Learning & Development, Hang Lung Properties
Fred is responsible for driving the corporate learning & development strategies to strengthen people and organizational capabilities and performance in Hang Lung Properties.
Fred possesses over 20 years of experience in learning & development and human resources management, and has held various regional positions in companies like Manulife, AXA. He is passionate about designing and facilitating management development programs in his organisations, and in the past, he worked as part-time lecturer for a number of universities including Monash University and Deakin University on topics relating to leadership, human resources and communications.
Fred holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London and a Master of Management degree from the Macquarie University.
DING Shanshan (Helen)
Green Supply Chain Director at Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE)
DING Shanshan (Helen) currently serves as the Green Supply Chain Director at Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE), one of the leading environmental organizations in China.
For the past six years, Helen has worked with an enthusiastic team engaging nearly 100 multinationals sourcing from China to improve the environmental performance and reduce carbon emissions of their China supply chain. She and her team also employ the Green Supply Chain CITI Evaluation (co-developed by IPE and the Natural Resources Defense Council, NRDC in 2014) and the latest Corporate Climate Action Transparency Index (CATI) to evaluate brands’ environmental and carbon management of supply chains in China.
Tianyi Luo
Director & Partner at Bluerisk
Tianyi is a seasoned expert in corporate water strategies and physical climate risk modeling with over 12 years of research and consulting experience. He began his career as a researcher at the World Resources Institute, a renowned global environmental think tank, and held various technical and leadership positions over the years, including directing the Aqueduct Project, a signature initiative focused on global water risks. Tianyi has advised over 50 of the world’s largest companies and international organizations, including BlackRock, HSBC, Microsoft, P&G, the World Bank, and the United Nations, on how to measure and address water risks and climate impact on businesses and livelihoods. He holds an MSc in environmental and water resources engineering from Tufts University and a BSc in water supply and drainage engineering from Hefei University of Technology.
Vans Zhang
Founder of TRASHAUS
Vans Zhang is an expert on the development of circular products and circular value chains. With a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and material flows, he has helped leading companies successfully implement circular initiatives in China, including Unilever, Meituan, and Heytea. He brings over rich experiences in managing stakeholder complexity as the Founder and Director of Ele.me Sustainability Lab. During his time at Ele.me, Vans engaged and negotiated with government authorities, competitors, and downstream recyclers to develop China’s take-out packaging Group Standard, accelerating the development of the recycling ecosystem for PP plastics. Before working in circular innovation, he led the automotive exterior lighting design teams at Volkswagen AG, providing him with an edge in developing circular solutions for the automotive industry.
Jenny Zhang
Director of ESG and Decarbonization, Urban Land Institute APAC
Jenny is the Director of ESG and Decarbonization for Urban Land Institute APAC. She is the regional champion for ULI’s Greenprint community, a global alliance of leading real estate asset owners and investors striving to achieve net zero. Her previous experience includes climate-tech entrepreneur building carbon management software, and financial advisory on M&A transactions with Deloitte. Jenny graduated from UC Berkeley, is a licensed CPA, and a trainer in social impact assessment and design thinking.
Alan Chan
Senior Director – Business Development (China) at CLP Holdings
Alan Chan is Senior Director – Business Development (China) at CLP Holdings. He has about two decades of experience in development, investment and management of power projects within Asia Pacific. In his current role, he is in charge of new business development activities in Mainland China, with emphasis on renewable energy projects and corporate energy solutions (eg. Corporate PPA). Prior to this, he undertook various role within CLP including corporate finance, business development oversight that guided Group’s development and asset optimization activities in China, India, Australia and Southeast Asia. He also had a stint as the lead equity analyst at Daiwa Capital Markets, covering the Hong Kong and PRC Power and Utilities sector.
Alan holds an MBA degree from INSEAD in France and master’s degrees from Stanford University and Michigan State University in the USA.
